Leo Fender was so far in advance of anybody else, developing the Strat to the point where it just can’t be bettered, even now. Les Paul re-signed with Gibson a few years later and the original single-cutaway designs were reissued. Ever since, there’s been a steady stream of designs such as the Artisan, Artist, Classic, Deluxe, Heritage, Jumbo, Lite, Plus, Signature, and Studio, to name just a few of the nearly 50 models. Learning to play country guitar is not the same as learning how to play heavy metal. You want to learn songs that are your type.

Learning the guitar will not be that simple. But though there will be challenges and trials along the way, it will all be worth it when you eventually become an excellent guitarist. Les Paul didn’t like the way the new design looked so he told Gibson that he didn’t want his name on it. Gibson then changed the name to the new double-cutaway model to the Gibson SG.

Les Paul wanted two colors used on the Gibson guitar that would forever bear his name: gold (for its connection to all things fine) and black (because a player’s hands would be easily visible against a dark background). Les got the gold in 1952, but had to wait for the black. Les Paul is often credited with inventing the solid body electric guitar, and his involvement with the Gibson models was more or less just a happy accident. When he was a teenage performer he tried amplifying an ordinary acoustic guitar so that he could be heard by the audience. Les Paul did not care for the new body style and let his endorsement lapse, and the new body design then became known as the Gibson SG.

Les didn’t care for the new body style and he made sure the Les Paul wasn’t changed at all. Nowadays the SG is very much used in hard rock and metal bands like AC/DC. Lester Paul was a very popular guitarist musician of the time and was well known due to his radio show. In his spare time Les Paul also enjoyed playing around with the idea of amplification of the guitar sound and dubbing of various sounds over the top of others. Les Paul modified the machine to further his explorations of multi-track recording, eventually commissioning Ampex to build the first eight-track tape recording machine based on his designs.
